Ten Steps to Start 2018 Positively

The energy, like the stress levels rises up and down at this time of the year. We go through the stress, the happy phase and then a dip into the depression of everything being over so quickly. Before we can take a deep breath, 2018 is around the corner and then another stress pike hits us. Then the general deflation of going back to work and dealing with the endless advertising for gym memberships and diet deals slam dunk us into another vicious cycle of the blues. Image result for 2018

We do this every year and yet we start off the year with this brilliant hang over energy hoping to forget the year that has been and put all our eggs into the new year which is like telling a new starter in a company that they are to be this or that. Imagine the pressure of living up to people’s expectations!

The thing is, the New Year is LIFE. There are some things is in your control and others, that are not. You cannot control who will die, who will have a terminal illness, how your company is run and how that will affect your employment nor can you stop yourself from feeling unhappy.

You can however try to be kind to yourself so that will start a circle of good things around you, deal with situations better, go see the doctor if you feel ill and prevent a bigger illness, take care of yourself, attract the right people, and do more of happy. You can stop going into one relationship to the other, you can set aside time to study or improve your skills, spend time with people you love, plan things and be in control of what you can achieve in your life.

Start of 2018 in a more positive way. Here is a list of things you can put into practice before or on the first week of the New Year. You will need a new note book or a sheet of paper for some of the ideas below.

1. Learn from the Bad stuff

The problem with wishing away the year is that we miss out on the lessons or the positives that could push us forward in 2018. There are so many good things that have happened, bad stuff also have good things in them and lessons to be learned. Remember in the darkness there is always light, we just have to find it. What did you learn from that experience? Did you find that you were a lot stronger than you thought? Were you able to stand up for yourself in a positive away? Draw two columns in a note book or sheet. Mark one, “Situation” and the other “Lessons”. You can also add another two column to indicate date/time and another for “Positive/Negative”. Now write down as clearly and succinctly as possible what happened and the in lessons, think of how you overcame, reacted or learned from the situation. There is no right or wrong answers, this is about YOU and how it affected you. If you decided on the positive/negative then indicate what the outcome for you was. You can list as many or as little as you want. Once you have finished, take a look, read through and see how your words make you feel and look at how many positives or negatives occurred. This is a great exercise as if you encounter similar or recurring situations in 2018. You can go back and see the pattern forming and you will have another revelation or learning to uncover. 2. Letting Go – This is simply to put on paper, the things you feel you need to “let go” off – emotions, attitudes or habits that you feel stops you from going forward

3. Spring clean – start the New Year with a clean slate. Decluttering the house can be the start of the clearing of the mind. Get rid of the things you don’t need. Do this in a mindful way so that you are not thinking of anything other than what you are doing in the moment. Give away or throw but get the house in order. This helps to get your own mind in order and focused.

4. Gratitude Jar – this is a good time to open your jar and start reading the good stuff that happened over the year. If you don’t have one, then start a new one for 2018. Get an old large jar and decorate it as you will. Write down your day or week’s highlight into the jar as often as you can. Open up and read around this time next year.

5. Friends & Family – write down a list of people you would like to spend more time with in 2018. This is even people you are no longer speaking to or haven’t been in touch with. Put down an activity or even a place you would like to be with them, next to their name. Make it a realistic list and an activity. Go back later this year to reflect on how you can make it happen or be surprised at who calls or messages you in the year. Write down another list of people who make you feel bad or guilty. Let this list serve you when you encounter the same patterns the coming year. You have choices and options. Never feel that you MUST or NEED to spend time with anyone who makes you feel bad.

6. Write down five things you want to see happen in 2018. This is about YOU so leave out your children, partner or friends. Just about what you want and need.

7. What do you want to transform this year? Is there a part of you that needs transformation? If there is ONE thing that the Universe could do for you, what would that be? Emotion, relationship, career, health, mental clarity, money….etc

It makes my body relax but also create a very beautiful space around me. Create a space and time for yourself so you won’t be disturbed. Leave your notebook or a sheet of paper next to you with a pen.You can do this for 10mins or an hour, totally up to you. Make yourself comfortable and put on the music. Close your eyes and breathe in and out a few times until you feel your body relaxing. Focus only on the chant and let your mind drift to the words. Now set an intention to relax and to feel positive. Write down any thoughts, ideas or words that come to you when you open your eyes. Read through later and think of what it means to you.

9. New Year Smudging & Energy Clearance

Clear the energy by smudging the house with sage. I prefer white Californian sage but you can use frankincense or just a bunch of your favourite incense.  Put on this Mahalakshmi Gaytri Mantra as you do this this chant is calling on Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth to come grace you with good fortune. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEcn2Bvakr4 Start the north most area of the house or flat and work around clockwise with the sage, focusing only on your 3rd eye and putting out an intention to clear the energy and for good stuff in 2018. Try not to be distracted and try to keep positive. When you get back where you started, put your palms together and welcome Lakshmi to your house. Deepavali is the time of enlightenment, love, family, friendship and happiness. It is also a very sparkly and bright time as people will be wearing very colourful and shiny clothes, tables heaving with delicious food, fireworks and light lamps everywhere.
 
It is called the “Festival of Lights” (Deepa means lamp/light and vali means the path or in some interpretations, row).
 
This year it falls on Sunday, October 30th, 2016. Deepavali is the celebration of light over darkness. A time to rejoice as good has won over evil.
 
Houses are cleaned, things thrown or given away, sweets and special food made, invitations sent out, prayers and rituals observed.

So what is the myth or history as to why this wonderful festival the highlight of the Hindu calendar?

Rama & Sita’s return to Ayodhya

One of the main legend behind the celebration is the Return of Sri Ram To Ayodhya. The prince of Ayodhya , Lord Sri Ram’s wife Sita was kidnapped by the evil King of Lamka, Ravana.  Like any loving husband, he tried o free his wife. This turned into a  full fledged war but Sri Ram and his supporters managed to save his wife and defeat the evil King. When they made their way back to Ayodhya, exhausted but relieved, they were greeted by a show of support and love by their subjects. All the houses were light and little diyas (earthen light lamps) lined the path into the kingdom. The love of Sita and Ram is legendary and the people showered them with love, light and flowers to welcome them back.
 
Deepavali is also the incarnation of the  Goddess Lakshmi which falls on the new moon day ( Oct 30th). She is the Goddess of prosperity and brings with her moon energy. She apparently appeared during tussle between the demons and the Gods above the sea, causing deep unrest in the tides and fear in the people around. Her incarnation brought peace, harmony and good news to earth. Today she is worshiped by Hindus and even those who may not know of her significance, as the Goddess to pray for wealth and feminine energy. Lakshmi is traditionally worshiped through a special “puja” on the day of Deepavali. People tend to leave sweets and flowers around her pictures or statue and ask to be blessed with wealth and happiness for the coming year.
 
The death of Narakasura
Krishna said. ‘Narakasura! This is Satyabama…She is actually an incarnation of Bhumadevi…’ Both Satyabama and Narakasura looked at Krishna with surprise as Krishna continued, ‘She incarnated with the special purpose of defeating you…I could never have defeated you…Only Satyabama could…so I pretended to fall unconscious and the rest was done by her…’ Krishna said looking at Satyabama with pride. Satyabama felt a deep understanding within herself. She realized the truth in Krishna’s words. She took Narakasura’s head in her lap and cried out, ‘My son! Why? Why did you have to follow such a dark path…Why did you…’
 
Narakasura stopped Satyabama, ‘No mother! You are not responsible for my choices…I chose wrongly and you fought me for what you believed as right…You have done the right thing…I am glad to call you my mother…’ Narakasura breathed his last….
 
Even to this day, Narakasura’s death is celebrated as the victory of light over darkness…It comes on the second day of Diwali as ‘Naraka chaturdasi’. Diwali which is a festival of lights actually celebrates the triumph of right over the wrong…

What does this mean for me?
That all sounds great but what does this mean to us in a more spiritual context? Remember the New Moon is always the start of the “letting go” process and by the full moon, little by little, we will have these different elements to our lives – people, personality traits, behaviour, old belief patterns, trauma, anger, unhappy memories, pain and even grief that no longer serves purpose in our lives, become clearer and ready to let go. 
 
Everything is supercharged this weekend. Your clarity and vision is enhanced so you will have a clearer list of things you need to release and a definite idea of what you NEED in your life. Goddess Lakshmi is a manifesting enabler but she doesn’t discriminate. So if your thoughts are full of anger, hate and negativity then so be it. You will be unconsciously manifesting it if you are constantly thinking it. Keep your mind full of positive and enthusiastic future thoughts and this will be your manifesting pledge to the universe.
 
The significance of Good over Evil, Light over Darkness — this relates to all of us and spiritually speaking, it is a reminder that whatever your circumstances, light and good is possible. Don’t let your circumstances NOW determine your LATER.  It is very easy to fall into the very human trap of staying in your comfort zone. If you are in a bad place, it is also a “comfortable” place and so many of us find it easier to stay there because we fear the unknown. 
 
As someone who has dealt with depression and trauma for most of my life, I have struggled so much between light and dark. Yes, there were times when I stayed in the dark but I scrambled out in search of the light as I always knew there was a better place. The one thing that has made me stronger and wanting to live another day is HOPE.

Guidance for this weekend and the coming week

How do we take advantage of the amazing gift that is being showered into our very existence this weekend and the week after? What can we do to ensure that we release, shed and walk into the light? Leaving behind all that no longer serves us? Entering the realm of  a positive live, motivation, happiness and wealth?

Below is my power packed 7 step guide to accelerate your manifesting and letting go:

  1. Forgiveness – When you forgive, you let go and release the cords that are attached to you. It may feel that the other person(s) have won but in reality it is you that is winning as you no longer allow them to influence your thinking, how you feel and what you do.
  2. Circle of Love – be with people who make you happy and smile. Be very conscious of how people make you feel. Ask yourself after spending time with someone or a group of people “how do I feel? Happy, drained, angry, sad, belittled? Change who you spend time with. Be uplifted, happy, smile and joyful – not judged, angry, sad or down.
  3. Meditate –  Calm that busy mind of yours with some relaxing music, incense and connect with your inner self. 
  4. Moon ritual – Make some time to do my special moon ritual which takes only a few minutes to do but you will be surprised at the results if you keep at it and believe in it! Get your free copy here.
  5. Goddess prayer – If you have an altar then leave some sweets and flowers for Goddess Lakshmi. You can print off a photo from the internet and use it as your focus.

You can also play this chant which gives me goose bumps everything I listen to it as you do your Moon Ritual and chant along with the lady as you go about smudging and cleansing the house.

Say this Lakshmi Gayathri mantra with an open heart and full of love. Imagine that you have this opportunity to speak to her direct and ask her for a happier and prosperous life. Believe it or not, but these mantras were not accessible to common people in India for many centuries as it was a huge secret among the the royals and those close to them. So we are indeed very lucky that this is all available to us so easily.

6. Keep your thoughts positive – When you think of what you want in your life – be positive about it. Just because things haven’t worked out now doesn’t mean it will stay the same. So focus on what you need in your life and believe that it WILL come through!

7.Connect with Mother Earth – whether you go out for a walk in nature, perhaps live close to a beach (or on holiday near one!) or just go out t the garden and walk barefoot on the grass – get close to Mother Nature. Moon energy is radiating this weekend. Get connected!

Today is a special day and in fact this whole week is going to be interesting as we head towards the full moon on the 16th. The universe has been conspiring to move us closer to our life purpose, stamp out limiting believes, addiction and even releasing us from relationships. A number of us have been left wondering “what next” or questioning what their life purpose is and what it is they are meant to be doing. Think about our life – from the very beginning to the end, as a large puzzle, and all the pieces scattered around a large moving and badly lit table. Here is the tricky bit…..you don’t know what the final picture is going to look like and many of the pieces are simply blank. Somehow you need to work your way through the pieces, find the right pieces to fit and figure out what the puzzle is supposed to look like. Now imagine this as you life. We have an idea of how everything fits in but don’t really know how its supposed to look like! This is where the universe comes in. It is divine assistance to push us in the right direction. From energy to spirit guides, you are shown little clues to prod you into the right direction. Some of us have strong intuition and total belief in our wisdom to trust in their decisions. Others will refuse any help or reminders from any other source that is not scientific. While others who feel the energy shifts will question everything and seek the truth. The energy of the full moon and planetary events contribute towards broadening our awareness towards our life purpose. 

Each and everyone of us have a purpose. You may think your life is boring and haven’t achieved much compared to say, Nelson Mandela who has contributed blood sweat and tears to his country. We all have different life purposes and it can range from being the person who changes a parent’s addiction to someone who  designs a product that makes a difference to our lives. Some people may leave our planet with absolutely no idea what their “life purpose” was. Does it matter?  In the scheme of things, no. But if we go back to the puzzle, wouldn’t  it be easier to put together if you knew what it looked like? So you could say that knowing your life purpose is like having a clearer picture of why you are here on earth.

A lot of people are buzzing forward with ideas, new opportunities and planning ahead this week. You may be getting downloads in the form of ideas, thoughts dropping into your head, names of people to contact (who could help you) and events appearing on your screens. You are possibly being encouraged to take a course that will enhance your knowledge of a particular subject which could lead to a job promotion in six months or a meditation class to tackle the stress that has been cropping up lately. Making that one decision can change the course of how your life is going now. So pay attention this week and if it feels right, go for it! 

Today’s date is 10/10/2016 which rounds up to 11 which is a master number which often reminds us of a change and a reminder from the Angels that you are manifesting both positive and negative energy. 11 is also 1+1 = 2. Two is about having courage, trust and to have patience. 

The universe is hinting that you must firstly be keeping a watch out for signs but also be patient and keep positive. Courage is going to be important as some of us are taking big leaps into the unknown. So if you are having a wobble then don’t worry it is going to be okay. You are being encouraged to take action and have faith.

Watch out for signals in the form of numbers as there are strong messages and reminders being sent. Comment below of you are seeing numbers and I will try to give some of you insight.

Guidance for the Harvest Full Moon September 2016

This is a tough week for all of us. From emotions running high to physical symptoms, the energy has been playing havoc with some of us. The theme of the Mercury Retrograde has been all about YOU so it is a very personal and deeply cleansing time. Let me try to explain as simply as possible, when we talk about shifts and new beginnings, we are lead to believe that this is about the bigger, external stuff around us. But it is in fact, to bring in a shift within your consciousness to trigger the change that you want in your life. You cannot expect or want change but not want to change.  Once our belief patterns and behaviour adapts to our needs, then the other bigger elements in our life will fall into place. Imagine a domino effect, the first chip being YOU and the rest being things in your life e.g relationship, partners, work, house, family etc.  Without that first chip making that move forward, the other chips in the front will have no direction or purpose.

Now to understand how this triple whammy energy storm is going to have an impact on us, we have to acknowledge how the moon phases works. The New Moon is the time for the universe to send us subtle signs on what we need to work on so that by the time the full moon appears in our skies, we have an idea of what we need to release in order to bring about the change or in some cases, a new beginning. Of course this only works if we fully grasp what these messages are. You will need to pay attention to what sort of feelings are bubbling up,  how you are feeling and type of issues you are facing. For example, if you are within the first week of the new moon, encountering difficult people who keep questioning your authority or decision making, then stop and ask yourself why. “Why am I being sent these people and what is it that I need to address? This could be because you could be sending the wrong signals “I am not comfortable in a leadership role” Perhaps the universe is trying to help you release the fear that you have about authoritative figures and stand in your own power. Being in charge is not a bad thing and of course some people take it too seriously. But if you evade it and your life purpose is exactly that, then you will continue to struggle with yourself. If you have acknowledged this, the full moon energy will help push you closer to your true life purpose. Take take the opportunity to release these fears and welcome a new beginning. Put the things you no longer need in your life – fear, anger, and any negative energy that do not serve you, onto your list and put all the things you welcome to your life on your wishlist. 

As I said, the Retrograde is a very personal one and I don’t blame you if you feel under attack. It is never easy to face up to facts or to deal with our own insecurities and weaknesses. No one wants to feel bad and unfortunately the universe is not making it easy for some of us. Put this into the mix along with the Moon energy waves, you have a serious amount of inner journey to deal with right now. So there will be a number of people experiencing tension headaches (which will slip away after the full moon), aches and pains. Your body will try to resist change and there will be a few physical symptoms to deal with. 

For example every now and then I get an awful pain in my shoulder one or two days before the full moon and then disappear the day after the full moon. It is one of the things that I would have normally missed but over the years, noticed that this often occurs near to a full moon. It is like the energy of what you want to let go is aware that it needs to be released and tries to hide but then fails! I also noticed from my personal experience as well as friends and family, that underlining health issues, you know the niggly pain or feeling you have been having  ignoring, in the hope it will go away, starts to crop up closer to the Full Moon. The universe has to be cruel to be kind so they bring up the stuff you try to hide under the carpet. So best to keep to your dental appointments and try to not ignore the signals from your body. People tend to get a lot more thirsty close to the full moon as well. We are unconsciously working twice as hard energetically that the body needs to be re-energised.

Have you noticed a pattern emerge in the last couple of weeks? Have the same issues cropped up again and again? Is there something you need to address or change? I do feel that people are being pushed to make decisions, stand up for themselves and also step up to take charge. This is a strong message from the universe for you to adjust your reactions, behaviour and also break the cycle which has been holding you back.

For example, if you are a normally even tempered person but feeling really angry and pushed this last few weeks because of how people have treated you or situations you have been in, then its time to change your attitude towards confrontations. Instead of avoiding it completely, the time has come for you to work through it and find a positive solution rather than hiding from it. You can’t be Mr Nice Guy all the time to everyone. You are allowed to express yourself, however positive but let the other person know you will stand up for yourself when required. 

Those who have confidence issues will also see themselves going through a shift where they feel more “in charge” while those with anger issues may be asked to take a closer look at how they misunderstand, judge or confront people without thinking. You find it difficult to be 100% happy and this is why. Let go of the need to be “ON” all the time and you will have an easier time mentally. 

To be honest, this is the time to really face your flaws, find new ways to work through your issues and make the changes for the better. This are your energy blocks and what is holding you back. Release it to the universe and be open to the shift.

The Universe offers us these opportunities every now and then to grow as humans. People will see this happening mainly in career and relationship areas. 

There will be travel disruptions and I believe some due to electricity and miscommunication. So be prepared for sudden changes and having to make different plans if you are travelling in the next 1-2 weeks. Do not forget to take on travel insurance because when the energies are shifting the way they are at the moment, a simple trip could turn into an overnight stay somewhere away from where you intended to be at. You would obviously have to pay for unexpected expenses without an insurance cover. Try to not make any big purchases especially electrical items best to wait until after the 22nd of September.

Some of us are going to ride this energy wave a little differently. Every moon cycle brings a different type of experience to each of us. The people who were going through a terribly frustrating time last month, waiting on paperwork, sign off from some sort of an authority or trying to get people to agree on terms, will now find that these “blocks” have all lifted! But things will move at lightning speed and you will be spending the rest of thing month running around trying to get everything organised. You need to take action quickly and follow the momentum as its all systems GO for you! I see this relating to housing and people moving abroad. You have been waiting for something to happen and suddenly everything is happening at once and its chaos! So use this waiting time to prepare and be ready to move fast.

Take note of what actions you are taking this week. Are you unconciously manifesting your hearts desire? Put that into your wishlist to accelerate your dreams.

I am not going to  lie, the next two weeks will be huge. People will see themselves pushed to the brink, made to stand up for themselves and some will be scrambling for time as things will move quickly. Write down how you feel, ask yourself the big questions, meditate, listen to soothing music, keep a journal by the bed and write down your dreams. 

A lot of sleepless night with strong vivid dreams. We dream loads close to the full moon and often these are the dreams that matter because its your subconscious trying to give you hints about what you need to be addressing, what you really want and also, the Universe uses our Crown Chakra to heal, and transfer energy into our body. During this time we will receive help, information and clarity on our life purpose. If you wake up during this time, and immediately get a sense of knowing as to how to deal with a particular situation, solutions to a problem or take action, to initiate something that will change something in your life then understand that this was given to you by a combination of your own soul and the universe. People also find themselves dreaming about a loved one in Spirit. They come to visit us at these important times, to give us messages and also to remind us of things we have forgotten – ambition or even people we have fallen out with. At times they could also come to assist us in making our big decisions. I remember my father coming to me a few years ago when I was undecided if I should go to the Spiritualist college as it felt really daunting and I wondered if it was the right thing to do. I saw him sat around my dining table, with tea and chatting with loads of brochures around us. He appeared to be going through the pros and cons. The brochure was from the college which I didn’t actually have at my house at that time. But I later saw the same brochures on the last day of the course when the Spiritualist Union representatives were there to showcase their work as well of the college. So yes, spirit people do come around close to the full moon in our dreams as well at times, around the house to help us. Open your hearts and release your fear if you have any of the spirit world so they can come closer to heal.

Start writing down two lists  – 1.  what you want to let go of  and 2. what you want in your life.  Release what you let go of with something positive. 

For example: 

I want to let go of my judgement of other  ———  Replace with ———–  I want to take people as they are 

I want to release my fear of being in control —— Replace with ———–I welcome the change to be a leader

The New Moon on July 19th: Bold decisions and Balance

You would have seen the bright, sparkly and powerful moon last night if you looked up at the sky. The light radiating from it was strong, vibrant and crystal clear. I felt a sense of calm and also hope reach me through the air and into my body.

For most of us, the dust is just settling and we are making sense of the aftermath of events that occurred  the last full moon. There is more clarity coming our way and with the male energy that comes with it, the new moon will empower us to be more assertive. So don’t be surprised if you find yourself making bold decisions and walking just a little more taller than normal. The energy of this past year has been building your confidence and now is the time to shine.

Put your best feet forward and make plans. Believe that it will happen and trust yourself to take the appropriate actions to realise it. You will also feel your sacral chakra more active than normal.  Your Sacral chakra is in your lower abdomen, just below your naval. This is your second chakra and an important one as it controls the flow of energy and is essentially your “core”.  Each chakra has its dowsacral-chakran special sound and we are lucky that the pioneers of yoga and meditation in India have made so much information available for us in this generation to tap into. Here is a fantastic free sacral chakra VAM chant meditation. My favourite person DhyaanGuru Dr. Nipun Aggarwal who shares so much freely on the Internet, with the intention of helping people, explains it and chants it perfectly. Please set aside some time this week to sit in meditation.

Create a sacred space by burning incense, light a candle or if you have one, a Himalayan Salt lamp or tea light. Try to do this when you are alone and can be undisturbed for at least 15 – 30mins. The best way to really feel this mantra is to listen to it on your earphones as you can really connect with vibration of the chant. Place a crystal in your dominant hand. The best crystals to meditate to energise your sacral chakra is  amber, carnelian, citrine or orange calcite but if you don’t have any of those mentioned, just pick one that is orange or golden in colour.  Cleanse it first by smudging it or with some incense. You will be thirsty when you finish the meditation so keep a glass of water next to you. Watch out for subtle messages or signs in your dreams that night. Always keep a notebook next to your bed so you can write it all down when you wake up.

Trust me, this is powerful, amazing and beautiful! If you have sudden urges to empty your bladder then do not fear as your body is cleansing and releasing. Please ensure you drink plenty of water. Lemon water in the mornings is great for the digestive system and for health. Obviously take care if its a symptom of a medical condition and check with your doctor if it continues for more than a week. This chakra is important for your brain’s well being in a way. It helps you with your ideas, starting new projects and also with creative endeavours. It also helps you balance your emotions and encourages healthy relationships with people around you.  sage
